For about five years, my wife and I had been thinking of having a property built in Suriname so that we could really start enjoying the country, nature, people and food after retirement. We explored various options, from those on offer in the Netherlands to those in Suriname. The latter was by far the most interesting in terms of price, but also presented the most uncertainties and risks.

Finally, we ended up with Intervast. A bit more expensive, but then you also get value for money. And they build under Dutch law. Everything according to contract. We had already made our own design for our dream house on the computer, but during consultations at the office in The Hague, the original design was refined further and further. That's when you really notice that you benefit from the knowledge and experience of the people involved at Intervast. In the end, the house was delivered on schedule in May 2019. A beautiful home, which we are very happy with. The after-care was also good, small imperfections were still resolved. Immediately afterwards, we awarded Intervast a follow-up contract for the construction of a fence with a total length of 180 metres, concrete wall with steel fencing, four gates, including an electric roller gate to the garage. That job, too, was done to complete satisfaction.

So are there no downsides at all? Yep, the promised drainage via six manholes and sewer pipes does not work, there is no trap and the manholes are too high so rainwater does not reach the manholes. The contractor also failed to fix this afterwards.

Would we do this process again with Intervast? Yep, definitely. We definitely don't regret it. We've been living there for almost a year now, the house is out of teething troubles, many resolved by Intervast afterwards, and always in good consultation. Thanks to good design and regular contact, almost everything went as we had imagined.
