We were told in advance by many people that you have to be there yourself if you have a house built in Suriname, otherwise there would only be misery.
Well, we went to Suriname when the first brick was placed and only returned to Suriname when the house was completed. All went well, the house looked good and was nicely finished.
We went with Intervast Netherlands because they offered a competitive price for building a house compared to other (Surinamese) builders who also have an office in the Netherlands. We wanted to have a point of contact in the Netherlands so we could discuss well in advance what kind of house we could afford, to make and adjust plans before construction actually started ect.
Intervast also has very capable people at the office in Suriname with whom we had good contact during the construction by email (and phone). Do keep an eye on your email to get any questions and/or adjustments through so that the construction process is not delayed.
Pictures of the house were sent regularly during the construction process. After completion, some minor things needed to be done and they responded adequately and provided a good service on those too. We get many compliments from local Surinamese who visit us and tell us that the house looks so good and is so neatly finished.
