In 2005, we bought a plot from Intervast with the idea of building a house there one day. We were warned by many people that building in Suriname comes with a lot of risks, especially if you are not there yourself. We therefore started looking very carefully for a reliable partner when we decided to build in 2018. We spoke to many parties and in the end we chose Intervast with full conviction.

Why?

Because of the honest story during our talks. Whereas other parties often dismissed our concerns with deadpan phrases like, "No you don't need to be afraid of that, don't worry, it will all be fine", Intervast told us what they do to prevent problems and how they solve it if things do go wrong.

"We make sure you don't have to worry. That does come at a price, but it saves you a lot of misery."

Construction started in February 2019 with the aim of delivering the house in December 2019.

During the construction process, our contact with Intervast intensified. Intervast acted professionally and our contacts also became increasingly personal, including with the management. If there were any problems, they did not shrug but gave us the honest story. For instance, we were told honestly that the construction had stopped and that another subcontractor had to be found.

We have a good relationship with Intervast, both in Suriname and in the Netherlands. When we went to Suriname in December 2019 to see how things were going, we got all the help we needed to buy our interiors.

And then came Corona! Construction was at a standstill again.

After the Corona period, there was a shortage of building materials and prices had risen sharply. Again, Intervast's honest story.

"We are insufficiently capable of restarting all projects quickly."

When we were in Suriname in August 2022, we were promised by Intervast that we would celebrate Christmas in our own home.

And that promise was thickly kept! The house turned out beautifully.

We continue to do business with Intervast with confidence.

They manage the house while we are in the Netherlands.
